Do not treat every image as QC evidence
A listing may combine studio photos, seller detail shots, size-chart graphics, model images, and warehouse or QC photos. Each can be useful, but they answer different questions. A polished studio image can explain the intended design; it cannot show the condition of a specific handled item.

Look for patterns, not one dramatic close-up
A single uneven seam may be a viewing angle, compression artifact, or actual construction issue. Check whether the same concern appears from another angle. Repeated evidence is more useful than enlarging one ambiguous image until it feels conclusive.
The reverse also matters: one clean close-up does not cancel missing overview images. A perfect zipper photo cannot confirm overall jacket proportions, just as a sharp bag logo cannot confirm dimensions or strap construction.
Compare photos taken under similar conditions when possible. Strong changes in lighting, background, compression, or crop can make color and texture look inconsistent even when the item is the same. Record the uncertainty and look for a measurement or repeated construction detail before drawing a conclusion.
What to do when the important photo is missing
- Name the missing evidence: “No outsole view,” “No laid-flat chest measurement,” or “No bag interior.”
- Decide whether that evidence could change the comparison.
- If yes, downgrade the row or keep it only as “research more.”
- Do not replace the missing image with assumptions from a similar listing.
